Just recently, an innocent life was saved in the state of Washington. Local vet, Kristin Kirkby just went through what might have been the saddest surgery of her life. A 4-year-old German Pointer dog named Abbey was stabbed with a stick while playing catch. And the stick didn’t just go anywhere, it went right through her heart and it was 4 inches deep. Adam Becker (owner) said that he had heard a strange sound and ran over to see what was happening. “She just started crying” is what he said about the dog when he saw her. “I went over there and saw a hole in her chest, about 4 inches” Kristin Kirkby (vet) had said that if they just pulled it out with no medical help, the dog would have died instantly. She later explained that the stick had punctured the dog’s heart in 2 places. “My heart had never beat so fast in surgery as it had in that one” says Kristin. The surgeon had to stitch up her heart as an assistant carefully pulled out the stick. The dog is now almost fully recovered and takes medication daily.
Abbey after her surgery
This is a nice story for animal lovers everywhere. It's great that it had a happy ending. Abbey is one lucky dog! You forgot to add the link to the original story and to include your sources in MLA style. See the Connecticut blog, or go to www.easybib.com for source help, if you need it. Good job.
